Dangerous Tech Or The Way Forward?
A national estate agency chain has announced plans to introduce ‘smartboard’ signs across its stock of homes for sale.
The smartboards will be used in conjunction with traditional boards offering house hunters the opportunity to access information about the home for sale using the most up-to-date technologies on their smartphone handset.
The question is…
Will it be the start of cars screeching to a halt with house hunters waving their mobile phones in the air like loons?
Does this signify the end of the chit chat from nosey neighbours and eager buyers I’ve enjoyed for so long?

The signs will feature prominent QR codes, which can be scanned with smartphones to download a portfolio of property marketing materials, as well as the latest NFC (Near Field Communication) chips allowing passers-by to simply tap enabled devices against the board to gain access to the same information. Property shoppers will be able to view photographs and floor plans on their mobiles, and can also send instant enquiries to the agents.
